পরিচ্ছেদঃ ৩১৮ : ক্রয়-বিক্রয়ের সময় কসম খাওয়া মকরুহ; যদিও তা সত্য হয়
১/১৭২৯। আবূ হুরাইরা রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, আমি রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম-কে বলতে শুনেছি যে, ’’কসম পণ্যদ্রব্য বিক্রয় বৃদ্ধি করে বটে; [কিন্তু] তা লাভ [বরকত] বিনষ্ট করে।’’ (বুখারী-মুসলিম) [1]
(318) بَابُ كَرَاهَةِ الْحَلَفِ فِي الْبَيْعِ وَإِنْ كَانَ صَادِقًا
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ: سَمِعتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ : الحَلِفُ مَنْفَقَةٌ لِلسِّلْعَةِ، مَمْحَقَةٌ لِلْكَسْبِ . متفق عليه
(318) Chapter: Abomination of Swearing in Transaction
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, "Swearing produces a ready sale for a commodity, but blots out the blessing."
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: What is meant here is that if a person takes an oath while offering a merchandise, he may succeed in selling a large quantity of it, but this is not a fair means of business because it increases the sale but robs the business of its blessings. Therefore, even if a person is perfectly right in his statement in respect of his merchandise, he should not take an oath to influence his customers.

২/১৭৩০। আবূ ক্বাতাদাহ রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, তিনি রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম-কে বলতে শুনেছেন যে, ’’তোমরা কেনা-বেচার সময় অধিকাধিক কসম খাওয়া থেকে দূরে থাক। কেননা, তা বিক্রয় বৃদ্ধি করে; [কিন্তু] বরকত মুছে দেয়।’’ (মুসলিম)[1]
(318) بَابُ كَرَاهَةِ الْحَلَفِ فِي الْبَيْعِ وَإِنْ كَانَ صَادِقًا
وَعَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ رضي الله عنه : أَنَّه سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، يَقُولُ : «إِيَّاكُمْ وَكَثْرَةَ الحَلِفِ فِي البَيْعِ، فَإِنَّهُ يُنَفِّقُ ثُمَّ يَمْحَقُ» . رواه مسلم
(318) Chapter: Abomination of Swearing in Transaction
Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, "Beware of excessive swearing in sale, because it may promote trade but this practice will eliminate the blessing."
[Muslim].
Commentary: This Hadith also mentions the same thing which has been stated in the preceding Hadith. It has food for thought that when oath robs the deal of its blessing, even if one's oath is perfectly true, how great a sin those commit who take false oaths to sell their goods! May Allah save us from committing this sin.
