পরিচ্ছেদঃ ২৫৪: গীবত (পরনিন্দা) নিষিদ্ধ এবং বাক্ সংযমের নির্দেশ ও গুরুত্ব
৪/১৫২২। আবূ হুরাইরা রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, তিনি নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম-কে বলতে শুনেছেন যে, “মানুষ চিন্তা-ভাবনা না করে এমন কথাবার্তা বলে ফেলে, যার দ্বারা তার পদস্খলন ঘটে পূর্ব-পশ্চিমের মধ্যবর্তী দূরত্ব থেকে বেশি দূরত্ব দোযখে গিয়ে পতিত হয়।” (বুখারী, মুসলিম) [1]
(254) بَابُ تَحْرِيْمِ الْغِيْبَةِ وَالْأَمْرِ بِحِفْظِ اللِّسَانِ
وَعَنْ أَبي هُرَيرَةَ رضي الله عنه: أنَّه سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُوْلُ: «إنَّ العَبْدَ لَيَتَكَلَّمُ بِالْكَلِمَةِ مَا يَتَبَيَّنُ فِيهَا يَزِلُّ بِهَا إِلَى النَّارِ أَبْعَدَ مِمَّا بَيْنَ المَشْرِقِ وَالمَغْرِبِ». متفق عَلَيْهِ
(254) Chapter: The Prohibition of Backbiting and the Commandment of Guarding one's Tongue
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "A person utters a word thoughtlessly (i.e., without thinking about its being good or not) and, as a result of this, he will fall down into the fire of Hell deeper than the distance between the east and the west."
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: This Hadith shows the disadvantages which can be caused by the improper use of the tongue. It is, therefore, essential that one should think before he speaks.
