পরিচ্ছেদঃ ৫১: আল্লাহর দয়ার আশা রাখার গুরুত্ব
১৭/৪৩৩। আনাস রাদিয়াল্লাহু ’আনহু থেকে বর্ণিত, রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেন, ’’কাফের যখন দুনিয়াতে কোনো পুণ্য কাজ করে, তখন বিনিময়ে তাকে দুনিয়ার (কিছু আনন্দ/খাবার জাতীয়) উপভোগ করতে দেওয়া হয়। (আর আখেরাতে সে এর কিছুই প্রতিদান পাবে না)। কিন্তু মু’মিনের জন্য আল্লাহ তা’আলা আখেরাতে তার প্রতিদানকে সঞ্চিত করে রাখেন এবং দুনিয়াতে তিনি তাকে জীবিকা দেন তাঁর আনুগত্যের বিনিময়ে।’’
অন্য এক বর্ণনায় আছে, ’’মহান আল্লাহ কোন মু’মিনের উপর তার নেকীর ব্যাপারে যুলুম করেন না। তাকে তার প্রতিদান দুনিয়াতেও দেওয়া হয় এবং আখেরাতেও দেওয়া হবে। কিন্তু কাফেরকে ভাল কাজের বিনিময়--যা সে আল্লাহর জন্য করে--দুনিয়াতেই দিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। এমন কি যখন সে আখেরাতে পাড়ি দেবে, তখন তার এমন কোনো পুণ্য থাকবে না যে, তার বিনিময়ে তাকে কিছু (পুরস্কার) দেওয়া যাবে।’’ (মুসলিম) [1]
بَابُ الرَّجَاءِ - (51)
وَعَن أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه، عَن رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، قَالَ: إنّ الكَافِرَ إِذَا عَمِلَ حَسَنَةً، أُطعِمَ بِهَا طُعْمَةً مِنَ الدُّنْيَا، وَأَمَّا المُؤْمِنُ فَإِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى يَدَّخِرُ لَهُ حَسَنَاتِهِ في الآخِرَةِ، وَيُعْقِبُهُ رِزْقاً في الدُّنْيَا عَلَى طَاعَتِهِ
وَفي رِوَايَةٍ: إنَّ الله لاَ يَظْلِمُ مُؤْمِناً حَسَنَةً يُعْطَى بِهَا في الدُّنْيَا، وَيُجْزَى بِهَا في الآخِرَةِ . وَأَمَّا الكَافِرُ فَيُطْعَمُ بِحَسَنَاتِ مَا عَمِلَ للهِ تَعَالَى فِي الدُّنْيَا، حَتَّى إِذَا أفْضَى إِلَى الآخرَةِ، لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ يُجْزَى بِهَا. رواه مسلم
(51) Chapter: Hope in Allah's Mercy
Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When an infidel accomplishes any good deed, he is rewarded for it in this world; and in the case of a Muslim, Allah stores up his good acts for him in the Hereafter and provides him with subsistence in this life due to his obedience."
Another narration is: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah does not wrong a believer a good deed because he is given blessings for it in this world and will be rewarded for it in the Hereafter. But the infidel is given in the world the reward for good deeds, he has performed for the sake of Allah and when he comes to the Hereafter, there is no good deed for which he can be rewarded".

Commentary: The infidels also do in this world many works which are for public welfare, or which come under the category of good deeds. Almighty Allah gives them reward for such good deeds in this world in the form of wealth, sound health, or saving them from some trouble, because Belief is precondition for reward in the Hereafter. Since an infidel is deprived of it, he will also be deprived of their reward in the Hereafter. Thus, we learn that Belief constitutes the basis of every action and is a precondition for the acceptance of any good deed by Allah.
