পরিচ্ছেদঃ ১৩০: স্বপ্ন ও তার আনুষঙ্গিক বিবরণ
৪/৮৪৫। আবূ সা’ঈদ খুদরী রাদিয়াল্লাহু ’আনহু থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লামকে বলতে শুনেছেন যে, ’’যখন তোমাদের মধ্যে কোন ব্যক্তি এমন স্বপ্ন দর্শন করে যা তার কাছে প্রীতিকর, তখন তা নিঃসন্দেহে মহান আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে (দেখানো) হয়। সুতরাং সে যেন তার জন্য আল্লাহর প্রশংসা করে এবং সে তা (স্বপ্ন) ব্যক্ত করে।’’ অন্য বর্ণনায় আছে যে, ’’সে যেন তা তার প্রিয়জন ছাড়া অন্য কারো কাছে ব্যক্ত না করে। আর যখন তাছাড়া কোন অপ্রীতিকর স্বপ্ন দর্শন করে, তখন তা নিঃসন্দেহে শয়তানের পক্ষ থেকে (দেখানো) হয়। সুতরাং সে যেন তার অনিষ্ট থেকে (আল্লাহর নিকট) আশ্রয় প্রার্থনা করে এবং কাউকে তা ব্যক্ত না করে। কেননা, (তাহলে) তা তার কোন ক্ষতি করতে পারবে না।’’ (বুখারী ও মুসলিম) [1]
(130) بَابُ الرُّؤْيَا وَمَا يَتَعَلَّقُ بِهَا
وَعَنْ أَبي سَعِيدٍ الخُدرِيِّ رضي الله عنه: أنَّه سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، يَقُولُ: « إِذَا رَأَى أحَدُكُمْ رُؤيَا يُحِبُّهَا، فَإنَّمَا هِيَ مِنَ اللهِ تَعَالَى، فَلْيَحْمَدِ اللهَ عَلَيْهَا، وَلْيُحَدِّثْ بِهَا ـ وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: فَلاَ يُحَدِّثْ بِهَا إِلاَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّ ـ وَإِذَا رَأَى غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ مِمَّا يَكْرَهُ، فإنَّمَا هِيَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ، فَلْيَسْتَعِذْ مِنْ شَرِّهَا، وَلاَ يَذْكُرْهَا لأَحَدٍ ؛ فَإنَّهَا لا تَضُرُّهُ ». متفقٌ عَلَيْهِ
(130) Chapter: Visions in Dream and matters relating to them
Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "When one of you sees a dream that he likes, then it is from Allah. He should praise Allah for it and relate it to (others)."
Another narration adds: Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said, "He should not report it except to those whom he loves. And if he sees one which he dislikes, then it is from the Satan. He should seek refuge in Allah against its evil and should not mention it to anyone. Then it will not harm him."

Commentary: There are clear instructions from Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about both good and bad dreams. A good dream means a good news sent by Allah to a person who has seen it. It should be related only to those who are close to his heart and not to such people who may start nourishing malice against him like the brothers of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph). A bad dream should be attributed to Satan and not be described to others because it often causes one to be pessimistic and it may be taken as a bad omen, which is not allowed in Islam. Rather, a man should seek Allah's Refuge against its evil. And if he puts faith in Allah, no harm will come to him.
