পরিচ্ছেদঃ ৩৭০ : দাজ্জাল ও কিয়ামতের নিদর্শনাবলী সম্পর্কে
২০/১৮৩৬। উক্ত রাবী (আবূ হুরাইরা) রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, তিনি রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম-কে বলতে শুনেছেন যে, ’’দু’জন মহিলার সাথে তাদের দু’টি ছেলে ছিল। একদা একটি নেকড়ে বাঘ এসে তাদের মধ্যে একজনের ছেলেকে নিয়ে গেল। একজন মহিলা তার সঙ্গিনীকে বলল, ’বাঘে তোমার ছেলেকেই নিয়ে গেছে।’ অপরজন বলল, ’তোমার ছেলেকেই বাঘে নিয়ে গেছে।’ সুতরাং তারা দাঊদ আলাইহিস সালাম-এর নিকট বিচার প্রার্থিনী হল। তিনি [অবশিষ্ট ছেলেটি] বড় মহিলাটির ছেলে বলে ফায়সালা করে দিলেন। অতঃপর তারা দাঊদ আলাইহিস সালাম-এর পুত্র সুলায়মান আলাইহিস সালাম-এর নিকট বের হয়ে গিয়ে উভয়েই আনুপূর্বিক ঘটনাটি বর্ণনা করল। তখন তিনি বললেন, ’আমাকে একটি চাকু দাও। আমি একে দু টুকরো করে দু’জনের মধ্যে ভাগ করে দেব।’ তখন ছোট মহিলাটি বলল, ’আপনি এরূপ করবেন না। আল্লাহ আপনাকে রহম করুন। ছেলেটি ওরই।’ তখন তিনি ছেলেটি ছোট মহিলার [নিশ্চিত জেনে] ফায়সালা দিলেন।’’ (বুখারী-মুসলিম)[1]
(370) بَابُ اَحَادِيْثِ الدَّجَّالِ وَاَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ وَغَىْرِهَا
وَعنه: أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ: «كَانَتِ امْرَأَتَانِ مَعَهُمَا ابْنَاهُمَا، جَاءَ الذِّئْبُ فَذَهَبَ بِابْنِ إِحْدَاهُمَا . فَقَالَتْ لِصَاحِبَتِهَا : إِنَّمَا ذَهَبَ بِابْنِكِ، وَقَالَتِ الأُخْرَى : إِنَّمَا ذَهَبَ بِابْنِكِ، فَتَحَاكَمَا إِلَى دَاوُدَ عليه السلام فَقَضَى بِهِ لِلْكُبْرَى، فَخَرَجَتَا عَلَى سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ عليه السلام فَأَخْبَرَتَاهُ . فَقَالَ: ائْتُونِي بِالسِّكِّينِ أَشُقُّهُ بَيْنَهُمَا . فَقَالَتِ الصُّغْرَى : لاَ تَفْعَلْ ! رَحِمَكَ اللهُ، هُوَ ابْنُهَا . فَقَضَى بِهِ لِلصُّغْرَى» . متفق عليه
(370) Chapter: Ahadith about Dajjal and Portents of the Hour
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "There were two women, each had her child with her. A wolf came and took away the child of one of them. One woman said to her companion: 'The wolf has taken your son.' The other said: 'It has taken your son.' So both of them took the dispute to Prophet Dawud (David) (ﷺ) who judged that the boy should be given to the older lady. Then they went to Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon) (ﷺ) son of Dawud and put the case before him. Prophet Sulaiman said: 'Give me a knife so that I may cut the child into two and give one half to each of you.' The younger woman said: 'Do not do so; may Allah bless you! He is her child.' On that Prophet Sulaiman decided the case in favour of the younger woman."

Commentary: Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon) (PBUH) went to the depth of the matter by wisdom bestowed by Allah and the power of decision using a device or a trick as a method of discovering the truth. He used this trick to discover the truth and not to evade it. Such a trick is not forbidden in the law and there is no doubt in its being permitted. However, those tricks which are used to avoid the law are a great sin for which the Jews are well-known. May Allah save us from such things.
