পরিচ্ছেদঃ ৩৭১ : ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করার আদেশ ও তার মাহাত্ম্য
আল্লাহ তা’আলা বলেন,
﴿وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنْبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ﴾ [محمد : ١٩]
অর্থাৎ তুমি ক্ষমা-প্রার্থনা কর তোমার এবং মুমিন নর-নারীদের ত্রুটির জন্য। (সূরা মুহাম্মাদ ১৯ আয়াত)
তিনি আরও বলেছেন,
﴿وَاسْتَغْفِرِ اللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا﴾ [النساء : ١٠٦]
অর্থাৎ আল্লাহর কাছে তুমি ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা কর, নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ চরম ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু। (সূরা নিসা ১০৬ আয়াত)
তিনি অন্য জায়গায় বলেছেন,
﴿فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا﴾ [النصر: ٣]
অর্থাৎ সুতরাং তুমি তোমার প্রতিপালকের সপ্রশংস পবিত্রতা ঘোষণা কর এবং তাঁর সমীপে ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা কর। নিশ্চয় তিনি অধিক তাওবা গ্রহণকারী। (সূরা নাসর ৩ আয়াত)
তিনি অন্যত্র বলেছেন,
﴿لِلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَأَزْوَاجٌ مُطَهَّرَةٌ وَرِضْوَانٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ ١٥ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ ١٦ الصَّابِرِينَ وَالصَّادِقِينَ وَالْقَانِتِينَ وَالْمُنْفِقِينَ وَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِالْأَسْحَارِ ١٧ ﴾ [ال عمران: ١٥، ١٧]
অর্থাৎ যারা সাবধান [পরহেজগার] হয়ে চলে তাদের জন্য রয়েছে উদ্যানসমূহ যার পাদদেশে নদী প্রবাহিত, সেখানে তারা চিরস্থায়ী হবে, তাদের জন্য পবিত্র সঙ্গিনী এবং আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি রয়েছে। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ তার দাসদের সম্বন্ধে সম্যক অবহিত। যারা বলে, ’হে আমাদের প্রতিপালক! নিশ্চয় আমরা বিশ্বাস করেছি; অতএব আমাদের অপরাধসমূহ ক্ষমা কর এবং দোযখের শাস্তি থেকে আমাদেরকে রক্ষা কর।’ যারা ধৈর্যশীল, সত্যবাদী, অনুগত, দানশীল এবং রাত্রির শেষাংশে ক্ষমা-প্রার্থী। (সূরা আলে ইমরান ১৫-১৭ আয়াত)
তিনি আরও বলেছেন,
﴿وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا أَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهُ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ اللَّهَ يَجِدِ اللَّهَ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا﴾ [النساء : ١١٠]
অর্থাৎ আর যে কেউ মন্দ কার্য করে অথবা নিজের প্রতি জুলুম করে, কিন্তু পরে আল্লাহর কাছে ক্ষমা চায়, সে আল্লাহকে অতীব ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু-রূপে পাবে। (সূরা নিসা ১১০ আয়াত)
আল্লাহ তা’আলা বলেন,
﴿وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنْتَ فِيهِمْ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ﴾ [الانفال: ٣٣]
অর্থাৎ আল্লাহ এরূপ নন যে, তুমি তাদের মধ্যে থাকা অবস্থায় তিনি তাদেরকে শাস্তি দেবেন এবং তিনি এরূপ নন যে, তাদের ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করা অবস্থায় তিনি তাদেরকে শাস্তি দেবেন। (সূরা আনফাল ৩৩ আয়াত)
তিনি আরও বলেছেন,
﴿وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا فَاحِشَةً أَوْ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا لِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَنْ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَلَمْ يُصِرُّوا عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُوا وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ﴾ [ال عمران: ١٣٥]
অর্থাৎ যারা কোন অশ্লীল কাজ করে ফেললে অথবা নিজেদের প্রতি জুলুম করলে আল্লাহকে স্মরণ করে এবং নিজেদের পাপের জন্য ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করে। আর আল্লাহ ছাড়া আর কে পাপ ক্ষমা করতে পারে? এবং তারা যা [অপরাধ] করে ফেলে তাতে জেনে-শুনে অটল থাকে না। (সূরা আলে ইমরান ১৩৫ আয়াত)
এ প্রসঙ্গে আরও বিদিত বহু আয়াতসমূহ রয়েছে।
১/১৮৭৮। আগার্র মুযানী রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেন, ’’আমার অন্তর আল্লাহর স্মরণ থেকে নিমেষভর বাধাপ্রাপ্ত হয়। সেহেতু আমি দিনে একশত বার আল্লাহর নিকট ক্ষমা ভিক্ষা চাই।’’ (মুসলিম) [1]
(371) بَابُ الْاَمْرِ بِالْاِسْتِغْفَارِ وَفَضْلِهِ
وَعَنْ الأَغَرِّ المُزَنِيِّ رضي الله عنه : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: «إِنَّهُ لَيُغَانُ عَلَى قَلْبِي، وَإِنِّي لأَسْتَغفِرُ اللهَ فِي اليَوْمِ مِئَةَ مَرَّةٍ» . رواه مسلم
(371) Chapter: Seeking Forgiveness
Allah, the Exalted, says:
"And ask forgiveness for your sin...'' (47:19)
"And seek the forgiveness of Allah. Certainly, Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.'' (4:106)
"And declare the freedom of your Rubb from imperfection beginning with His praise, and ask His forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives.'' (110:3)
"For Al-Muttaqun (the pious) there are Gardens (Jannah) with their Rubb, underneath which rivers flow. Therein (is their) eternal (home) and Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives). And Allah will be pleased with them. And Allah is All-Seer of the (His) slaves. Those who say: `Our Rubb! We have indeed believed, so forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of the Fire. (They are) those who are patient, those who are true (in Faith, words, and deeds), and obedient with sincere devotion in worship to Allah. Those who spend (give the Zakat and alms in the way of Allah) and those who pray and beg Allah's Pardon in the last hours of the night.'' (3:15-17)
"And whoever does evil or wrongs himself but afterwards seeks Allah's forgiveness, he will find Allah OftForgiving, Most Merciful.'' (4:110)
"And Allah would not punish them while you (Muhammad (PBUH)) are amongst them, nor will He punish them while they seek (Allah's) forgiveness.'' (8:33)
"And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (illegal sexual intercourse) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; - and none can forgive sins but Allah - and do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know.'' (3:135)
The Qur'anic Ayat on the subject are many and well-known.
Al-Agharr Al-Muzani (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Sometimes I perceive a veil over my heart, and I supplicate Allah for forgiveness a hundred times in a day."
[Muslim].
Commentary: Ghain and Ghaim are two synonyms. They signify the spreading of the clouds. It refers in this Hadith to the fact that the Prophet (PBUH) was reciting the Names of Allah and remembering Him all the time. But sometimes due to being too busy in the affairs of the public or due to human needs, there was a pause in this eternal remembrance. Although such a pause was only momentary, this momentary pause was very much disliked by him; and considering it a slackness on his part, he prayed for forgiveness from Allah. In this there is an important lesson for us.
In spite of our many sins and negligence on our part, we do not turn to Allah and seek forgiveness; while, although our Prophet (PBUH) had all his past and future sins forgiven by Allah, he sought forgiveness very often.
