পরিচ্ছেদঃ ১৩৮: অমুসলিমকে আগে সালাম দেওয়া হারাম এবং তাদের সালামের জবাব দেওয়ার পদ্ধতি। কোন সভায় যদি মুসলিম-অমুসলিম সমবেত থাকে, তাহলে তাদের (মুসলিমদের)কে সালাম দেওয়া মুস্তাহাব
১/৮৭১। আবূ হুরাইরা রাদিয়াল্লাহু ’আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেন, ’’ইয়াহুদী-খ্রিষ্টানদেরকে প্রথমে সালাম দিয়ো না। যখন পথিমধ্যে তাদের কারো সাথে সাক্ষাৎ হবে, তখন তাকে পথের এক প্রান্ত দিয়ে যেতে বাধ্য করো।’’ (মুসলিম) [1]
(138) بَابُ تَحْرِيْمِ ابْتِدَائِنَا الْكُفَّارَ بِالسَّلَامِ وَكَيْفِيَّةِ الرَّدِّ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاسْتِحْبَابُ السَّلَامِ عَلٰى أَهْلِ مَجْلِسٍ فِيْهِمْ مُسْلِمُوْنَ وَكُفَّارٌ
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيرَةَ رضي الله عنه: أنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى الله عليه وسلم، قَالَ: « لاَ تَبْدَأُوا اليَهُودَ وَلاَ النَّصَارَى بالسَّلامِ، فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمْ أَحَدَهُمْ في طَرِيقٍ فَاضطَرُّوهُ إِلَى أَضْيَقِهِ». رواه مسلم
(138) Chapter: Greeting Non-Muslims and the Prohibition of Taking Initiative in Doing So
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Do not greet the Jews and the Christians before they greet you; and when you meet any one of them on the road, force him to go to the narrowest part of it."
[Muslim].
Commentary: This Hadith prohibits Muslims from greeting non-Muslims first. It also tells us that when the road is crowded, we should use the middle of the road and let the non-Muslims use its sides. This Hadith shows the dignity of Muslims and the disgrace and humiliation of the non-Muslims.
